Is transgender porn growing in popularity?
I recently spoke to Chris Morris at CNBC (8/27/15) about transgender porn growing in popularity – this adult content production trend and what it means for and indicates about wider social acceptance of transgender people in general.
The article draws an interesting parallel, then divergence from, BBW content. BBW porn rose in popularity and wider social awareness in 2013/2014, but then seemed to drop out of the public consciousness. Perhaps, as we as a society seemed disinclined to truly incorporate size acceptance into our daily lives, our sparkly shiny interest in this content faded from the mainstream?
(note: this content is still very much viable within various communities, it’s just not getting the big traffic headlines it once was)
But perhaps transgender porn growing in popularity is not a flash in the pan?
Our acceptance of transgender lives and experiences — though sadly still necessary in this day in age (for reals? there’s still some dispute? let’s step it up people, it’s 2015!) — seems to finally be gaining real traction within the wider social narrative. There are many possible reasons as to why this may be the case, but it seems to be the case regardless. As such, I hope this trend of transgender porn growing in popularity graduates from “news blip” soon, becoming something that just is — another piece of erotic expression featuring performers, just as viable, just as hot, and just as NBD as any other form piece of adult content.
We are still pretty far off, but I think we are moving in the correct direction! Read the entire story on CNBC right —> here
“I think we, as a culture, are making great strides forward as far as our understanding of TS individuals and experiences,” she says. “Unfortunately, we’re not making those strides in terms of size acceptance. As a consequence of that, I’m hoping we won’t see this flash in the pan, pay attention to it for a year, then forget about it mindset.” – Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals
